Small RV campground on Diablo Lake's north shore in North Cascades with forest trails, lake views, and a quieter feel than the south campground.
Colonial Creek North is a quieter, smaller counterpart to the south campground, also on the shores of the brilliantly blue Diablo Lake. Sites are nestled in old-growth western hemlock and redcedar with views of glaciated peaks. The campground is best suited for smaller rigs given the tighter site layouts and limited turning radius.
Colonial Creek campground sits on the shores of Diablo Lake, whose extraordinary turquoise color comes from glacial flour — finely ground rock suspended in the meltwater draining from North Cascades glaciers. Thunder Creek trail climbs from camp into the heart of North Cascades National Park's wilderness, passing through old-growth forest before reaching glaciated alpine terrain that connects to the park's roadless interior. The North Cascades ecosystem supports one of the most diverse assemblages of large carnivores in the contiguous United States, including black bear, mountain lion, wolverine, and a growing population of gray wolf.

The smaller, quieter sibling to Colonial Creek South — fewer sites means a more intimate feel. Sites along Colonial Creek are the nicest with pleasant white-noise water sounds. Same Diablo Lake access as the south campground. Often slightly easier to book last-minute than the south loop. Good choice for couples or small groups who prefer less activity.
